Tibetan melong is a calendar and is usually carried as protection. This astrological amulet is made from brass with a suspension hole at the apex. Forming a border around the edge are various tantric implements. Beneath them, forming a ring around the center, are the 12 animals of the tibetan zodiac. Within this is a roundel composed of various astrological symbols. It shows significant wear due to its age. Solid and heavy for its size. Origin: tibet 18th c. This item is made of brass.
